United Nations (http://www.un.org/) is an international organisation bringing together 192 states of the world. The Slovak Republic was accepted as a member of the UN on 19 January 1993 as one of the successor states of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic (CSFR).
The UN's main objective is to maintain international peace and security and, for this purpose, to take effective collective action to prevent threats to peace, to eliminate threats to it and to counter any of the acts of attack or other violations of peace, and to implement, in accordance with the principles of justice and international law, peaceful means to correct or resolve disputes or situations which could lead to a breach of peace.
