For Transparency International Slovakia:
- Zuzana Dančíková
The theme of the meeting was to increase the transparency activities of pharmaceutical firms and healthcare providers.
- Ms Dančíková positively assessed the efforts of MZ SR to continue these activities and to improve the provision of information to the public. She informed about TI activities and informed about portals called Transparent Doctors. She noted that, according to the findings, many doctors were not aware of the current legislation and could not navigate it. They'd like to launch a campaign to raise awareness among doctors. They intend to organise series of lectures at congresses or at medical faculties, pharmaceutical faculty and other educational establishments. Develop informative materials on this issue and inform the public. Therefore, they asked the Slovak Ministry of Agriculture to discuss this proposal in connection with the change of legislation.
- MUDr. Hlôška informed that the Ministry daily deals with the relationship of the doctor-pharmaceutical company or patient and it is decided to further improve this process, clarify and bring some new elements into it. He referred to the obligations of health professionals arising from the current legislation and pointed out the need to harmonise reporting procedures, to find a way to process information most effectively for public information.
The following conclusions emerged from the meeting:
- reconsider the frequency of reporting
- establish a uniform form
- what should be added to the form (data quality question)
- that all reports related to this issue are sent to MZ SR
- determine how to inform the public
- define the levels of sanctions for non-compliance
- define a group of healthcare professionals obliged to submit reports
- Form of publication of reports
- Time horizon for the required changes
