For the ZDS:
- Ing. Bc. Jozef Borovka, President of the Union of Diabetes of Slovakia
- MUDr. Ľubomír Barak, CSc, main expert in paediatric endocrinology and diabetes, metabolism and nutrition disorders
The meeting took place at the request of the President of the Union of Diabetes of Slovakia, opened by the Director General of MUDr. Adam Hlôška regarding the initiative sent to address the problem of treatment of childhood diabetes in Slovakia.
Representatives of the ZDS:
They pointed out that they have long pointed to the dissatisfaction of parents of diabetics with diabetes treatment in Slovakia. Several insulins are available on the market which provide an indication of treatment in adult diabetics, but only a few insulins suit the safety profile of treatment in paediatric patients aged 2 to 6 years. These insulins are not available for this target group due to a disproportionately high surcharge. Therefore, the ZDS requests a reduction of the surcharge for the patients concerned.
Representatives of MZ SR:
They informed that the Ministry would follow the current legislation. The request of the ZDS which was received by MZ SR on 11.02.2013 will be presented as a END to the Categorisation Committee, which will meet on 25. Þ 27.3.2013. The minutes of the Categorisation Committee for Medicinal Products will be published on the website of the Ministry.
They also agreed that the issue of the social aspect of diabetes is exclusively in the department of labour and social affairs and family.
The meeting was concluded by the Director General of the Department of Pharmacy and Drug Policy MUDr. Adam Hlôška.
