The meeting was held at the request of the presidents of the SPS, SGPS, SPI, SEVS. The topic of this meeting was the current situation in the prevention of cervical cancer. The meeting was opened by the Director General of the Department of Pharmacy and Drug Policy MUDr. Adam Hlôška.
SEVS:
The company president said it was important for Slovakia to follow other EU countries and vaccination to become a priority. Slovakia has always been the leader in the introduction of vaccinations - the world's first in 1957 introduced a national vaccination against polio, in 1986 a mass vaccination against hepatitis B virus, vaccinated health workers, in 1992 hepatitis vaccination And the eradication of epidemics. All these vaccinations have saved money for treatment in addition to health protection.
SPI:
President SPI pointed out that, some six years ago, the government's programme statement indicated that this issue would be addressed.
He noted that there are approximately 600 newly diagnosed cervical cancer diseases per year and that around 200 patients die each year. This disease is particularly relevant for women of working age over 40-55 years of age and mainly concerns socially weaker groups. Vaccination must, of course, go hand in hand with a preventive programme. If we start vaccination, it is important to realise that the effect will not be until a few years later.
SGPS:
It is important to note how many surgeries are being treated and not just specific cancers, but also different pre-development stages that could be prevented by vaccination. There would be a reduction in operational procedures over 3-4 years .
SPS:
In paediatric outpatients, parents are discouraged from paying for these vaccines. A well-developed vaccination system is very important for children, and this is reflected in adulthood.
MZ SR:
MZ SR works under current legislation according to which 10% of the price of these vaccines is covered by public insurance and 90% of the price is paid by the patient. MZ SR wants to continue to play the role of regulator - that is, defending patients' rights while ensuring pharmacotherapy for Slovak citizens so that healthcare is not compromised. Negotiations with pharmaceutical companies have not yielded any new results. True, they comply with legislation, but because of the patients they are not willing to go even lower than the price.
UNION:
The price of the medicinal products in question is a limiting factor. If the reimbursement of the medicinal products in question is to be increased by the health insurance companies, we expect to have a negative impact on their medicines budget. Currently, an investment of €6-7 million is difficult to achieve in the context of the impact on the health insurance budget. A reduction in the price of medicines by pharmaceutical companies is needed.
Trust:
Here, too, there is a financial problem, with an insurance company paying up to 70% of the vaccine price to 11-year-old girls.
GPP:
The critical data on the benefit of HPV vaccination will only be more comprehensively documented later, as will the economic impact in the long term.
In view of the continuously increasing demands for the reimbursement of innovative, expensive treatment (including medicinal products required beyond the current categorisation), the PES must take into account the real financial resources available and the overall sustainability of the financing of legally guaranteed healthcare. The increase in the reimbursements for anti-HPV vaccination poses a risk for the HBS to the long-term increase in direct costs for the large target population. Anti-HPV vaccination is not the only prevention. A responsible individual approach to disease protection and participation in preventive examinations can make a significant contribution to reducing disease risk.
