77th session The World Health Assembly in Geneva was concluded on 1 June 2024. The Pandemic Agreement has not been adopted and negotiations on its final text will continue. However, countries have adopted a package of revised articles of the International Health Regulations (IHR) from which the Slovak Republic has distanced itself.
As a result of the negotiations between the Member States of the World Health Organisation (WHO), the package of revised articles of the International Health Regulations (IHR) was consensually adopted (acceptance without vote). The Slovak Republic has dissociated itself verbally since the adoption of this package, i.e. it has distanced itself since their adoption.
We consider that, after agreement on the final text of the package of revised IHR articles, there was insufficient time for countries to study in detail the changes directly at the meeting. At the same time, the Member States of the World Health Organisation (WHO) adopted by consensus the way forward in the negotiations on the Pandemic Agreement. The countries agreed with the adopted document that the final text of the Pandemic Agreement would be submitted for adoption at the latest during the 78th session of the World Health Assembly (WHA78 May/June 2025). If the countries reach agreement on the final text of the document at an earlier date, an extraordinary meeting of the World Health Assembly will be convened at which the document will be adopted.
During further negotiations, the Slovak Republic will protect the primary interests of the Slovak Republic and its citizens.
