A further 53 million euros from the recovery and resilience plan go to a higher comfort of patients, healthcare professionals and doctors. The Ministry of Health has now launched a call for financing small investment projects to improve and streamline institutional healthcare. This is the third stage of the new investment chapter in the Slovak health sector, which started this year.
As part of the new investment chapter, we have started work on two new flagships of the Slovak health system, modern hospitals in Martin and Bratislava Rázsoch. A call for €212 million for large investment projects followed. Now the support for smaller projects is also open, and Vladimir Lengvarský, the Minister for Health, said.
A total of 53 million euros are allocated to the challenge. Potential applicants can apply for funding up to five million euros for the implementation of new buildings, extensions, superstructures, reconstruction or modernization of existing buildings and also for material and technical equipment.
The call from the Recovery Plan is open until 17 March 2023 and hospitals can participate in any planned level within the ongoing categorisation. The challenge is set to bring more comfort to as many patients as possible. Among other things, account shall be taken of the size of the catchment area of the establishment or the development plan of the hospital. This is why applicants have to submit their development plan to the Institute of Health Analysis before the actual request for funding.
The recovery plan is the backbone of the new investment chapter in Slovak health. On the other hand, the resort seeks to use other options. We managed to use the catching-up programming period. From Euro funds we supported hospitals in Dolný Kubín, Čadec or Ružomberok. At the same time, we are also working on systemic changes, for example on the implementation of the DRG system, and Vladimir Lengvarský continues.
