Endoscopic workplace II. internal clinic UNLP and Faculty of Medicine UPJŠ Košice has undergone extensive modernization and reconstruction. The trans-regional workplace can thus provide a comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic gastrointestinal endoscopy for patients from all over eastern Slovakia. Thanks to high-tech medical equipment and modern devices, it brings the latest advanced examinations and innovative medical procedures for the benefit of patients.
Zuzana Dolinková, the Minister for Health of the Slovak Republic, attended the opening ceremony today. In Slovakia, we do the medicine on top level, with top experts, doctors, nurses, nurses. I am all the more pleased that we are gradually adapting the premises of our hospitals, including the material equipment of individual departments. The fact that from now on you will be able to investigate at the UNLP Endoscopic Workplace in Košice patients with the most modern instruments to allow early detection of malignancies is much better for the patient. The treatment will be much easier and certainly less expensive for the hospital. Such cutting-edge devices, which we gradually provide to our hospitals, are benefits for patients and for the employees themselves. said Minister for Health Zuzana Dolinková.
The importance of the workplace for the inhabitants of the whole Eastern Slovak region was also highlighted by the director of UNLP Košice. The rapid and comprehensive availability of endoscopy in a centralised workplace will increase the uptake of early stages of gastrointestinal diseases and help prevent potential cancers. Modern technologies will reduce the need for operational performance and improve patients' quality of life. The endoscopy in our hospital is moving to the level of current medical requirements,MUDr. Ljuboslav Beňa, PhD., MPH.
We have expanded patient capacitiesAfter reconstruction, the workplace was extended to include a new endoscopic hall. All three, including the latest one, are located in completely upgraded workplace areas on the 3rd floor. During the complex reconstruction of the tract, the distribution of individual rooms, with emphasis on work rationalisation and safety, was reorganized. Rooms designed for the administration of infusion therapy and biological treatment and individual ambulances are arranged to ensure comfort for patients as well as for staff who care about them, We explain Deputy Chief of the 2nd internal clinic doc. Dr. Sylvia Dražná, PhD. Clinic expects to increase the number of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures from 2000 to 3000 per year, as well as the extension of procedures during overnight outpatient care.
High-tech advanced devices and state-of-the-art medical techniques are keyThe most modern generation of devices is equipped with an interventional endoscopic radiology (PIER), as part of the second floor endoscopic workplace. The complete assembly with linear EUS gastroscope and USG is connected to the ERCP assembly, which has allowed to extend the procedures provided to the latest methods that have not yet been implemented in the Eastern Slovak region. In the established ERCP method we have attached endosonography (EUS), which is a combination of endoscopy and ultrasound examination, it is a new method. This is a global trend of the ERCP/EUS concept, which allows for the availability of both examinations in one place at a time. The doctor will decide which method to use, according to the patient's condition, directly during the examination. Alternatively, both at the same time," adds doc. Drain.
The state-of-the-art EUS method allows for accurate diagnosis, in some cases direct treatmentThe most common endoscopic examination of the gastrointestinal tract in combination with X-ray and ultrasound is used if malignancies are suspected. As a result, the II. internal clinic expanded its activities with the possibility of combined endosonographic and radiological diagnosis and treatment of mainly bile, liver and pancreas tumours. It allows us to diagnose the patient quickly and accurately. We can complete the whole process early and timely in order to prevent a deterioration in its health. And thirdly, the patient doesn't have to undergo any unnecessary surgery due to an accurate examination, because we can solve his condition during the examination and directly draining it,next to doc. MUDr. Eduard Veseliny, PhD., head of the Endoscopic Department of the II. internal clinic.
Modern liver test methodsAn important modern equipment of the workplace is also the USG of the higher generation for examination of the abdominal cavity, blood vessels with SW elastography and transmissive elasticography of the liver to measure the amount of fat and degree of binding in the liver. II. internal clinic of the University Hospital L. Pasteur Košice and UPJŠ LF provides comprehensive medical-preventional care within internal medicine with emphasis on gastroenterology and hepatology. It also includes a modern endoscopic workplace. In cooperation with interventional radiologists, clinic experts have introduced new diagnostic methodologies (transjugular liver biopsy and portal pressure measurement in spells (HVPG)) and therapeutic performances (transjugular intrahepatic portosystem stent (TIPS), percutaneous transhepatic cholangiography and drainage (PTC/PTD)) with a view to developing a liver transplantation programme. New are also multi-disciplinary meetings of experts dedicated to the complex management of patients with bearing processes in the liver.
