The University Hospital Bratislava has new leadership from today (7.4. 2022). Director UNB Roland Schaller resigned at his own discretion. Entrusted with UNB management is Alexander Mayer, who has until now been the medical assistant of the medical institution. We wish UNB Director Schaller all the best in the next career and thank him for his work.
I was honored to run the largest hospital in Slovakia and I thank all the hospital staff under my direction for their work. I thank all doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals for their commitment to patient care, we have had an extremely difficult period of pandemic with regard to COVID-19, and thanks to their approach and that many see their work as a mission and stand steadfastly with patients, we have managed this difficult period. The decision to resign was my own decision and at my request. I wish everyone well, and I will keep my fingers crossed for the people working in the health sector, said the outgoing hospital director Roland Schaller.
The hospital until the regular selection procedure, for a maximum period of six months, will be headed by Alexander Mayer, the current medical assistant in the hospital. Dr. Alexander Mayer has been in the hospital for many years as a surgeon, for several years also leading the Hospital Academy of Ladislav Dérer in Kramáry, which is part of the complex of health facilities under UNB.
It is a great challenge for me to have confidence in the management of the Ministry of Health and I believe that I will lead the hospital well with regard to the patient and the healthcare professional in the first place. As a long-term employee of the UNB hospital, I know and believe that my work in the management position will contribute to its professional management and provision of quality health care in many cases for patients from all over Slovakia, said Alexander Mayer, in charge of UNB.
