In Ružinov Hospital, Bratislava University Hospital, two new operating halls were built, which will be part of the complex of operating halls. Ružinov Hospital has within University Hospital Bratislava's widest portfolio of operating disciplines (surgery, orthopedics, spinal orthopedics, gynaecology, ocular, plastic surgery, hand surgery, burns, dental surgery, thoracic surgery, urology). Operational teams in Ružinov Hospital have currently 16 operating rooms.
The complex of operating halls is an extremely busy workplace where operational teams perform 45 operational performances daily across the entire portfolio of operational disciplines. In addition to planned performances, a significant part of the hall operation is also acute conditions of patients requiring urgent surgery. Very often there are doctors and their teams facing various injuries, when the patient is imported with severe polytraum and is in imminent danger of life. Immediate medical intervention in the operating room is key to saving life.
The purchase of instrumentation was financed from the Integrated Regional Operational Programme (IROP) project, i.e. from European Union funds. Funds for the construction of operating halls were provided by the Ministry of Health. The total investment climbed to almost 10 million. 300 thousand. EUR 9 million of which hall equipment is worth EUR 9 million More than EUR 1 million and construction works 200 thousand. EUR. The operating halls are equipped with cutting-edge instruments such as mobile CT, surgical spinal robot, digital robotic microscope, spinal endoscopy assembly, a specific operating table for spinal surgery and others. This latest equipment of new operating halls is characterized by the highest quality, which allows our doctors in spondylosurgical surgery to convert a comfortable solution to the patient's problem with extreme precision in the operation itself.
–This investment shows how European funds should be used. This results in concrete and visible improvements for patients. This is a step in the right direction towards modern and functional health care. It is here that lives are saved, and today our top experts can make their jobs even safer, more accurate and more efficient,– added Minister of Health Kamil Šaško.

The new operating halls will serve for spondylosurgical operations, which require not only extraordinary precision, but also the highest standards for sterile environments, which is essential for these types of operations. In order to meet these high standards, the air-conditioning system has been completely newly built due to the elimination of the risk of contamination of the operating field by laminar airflow and multi-stage air conditioning.
The Ružinov Hospital provides the widest range of operational performances in our hospitals and in Slovakia as a whole. There are workplaces that are unique within Slovakia and many of them deserve to introduce new operating methods, which have not yet been implemented in Slovakia. Expand the complex of operating halls, where we added two new halls we wanted for several years. I am very pleased that this has been achieved, because once again, the patient will gain first and foremost, who can count on the highest quality of health care, thanks to the technical and medical equipment of the new operating rooms and, above all, the excellent work of our experts,Says Alexander Mayer, Director of University Hospital Bratislava.
The call for applications for a non-recoverable financial contribution from the IROP was aimed at modernising the infrastructure of the institutional facilities providing acute healthcare, increasing their productivity and efficiency, including a bed fund, and reducing the average length of hospitalization.foto3-0505.jfiffoto2-0505.jfiffoto1-0505.jfif
