10 October is World Mental Health Day, which was first proclaimed by the World Federation of Mental Health (WFMH) in 1991, to raise awareness and public awareness of mental health issues worldwide. Every year, mental health organisations present their work in mental health care and point to needs and trends in this area.
This year's World Mental Health Day is thematically devoted to highlighting the fundamental link between mental health and work. A safe and healthy working environment can act as a protection factor for mental health. Unhealthy conditions, including stigmatisation, discrimination and exposure to risks such as harassment and other poor working conditions, can pose significant risks affecting mental health, overall quality of life and consequently productivity at work. Given that 60% of the world's population is working, urgent action is needed to ensure that mental health is protected and promoted in the working environment.
Leading Slovak mental health experts, in cooperation with other partners, have therefore come up with a unique project of "Wishliness" which returns positive energy, humanity, belonging and mutual encouragement and support to everyday life. The initiator of the project is OZ The path to mental health, which is established by the Psychiatric clinic of the Faculty of Medicine UK and UNB and the gestor of the project is doc. MUDr. Ľubomíra Izáková, PhD., chief Psychiatric clinic of the Faculty of Medicine Comenius University and at the same time the main specialist of MZ SR for psychiatry and co-founder of OZ Road to mental health.
