The Minister of Health of the Slovak Republic Kamil Šaško accepted the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Slovak Republic Myroslav Kastrana at the Ministry of Health. The aim of the meeting was to strengthen bilateral health relations and to discuss specific forms of assistance provided by the Slovak Republic to Ukraine under current difficult conditions.
Slovakia is ready to continue supporting Ukraine in its efforts to ensure access to quality health care for all citizens, especially in the current difficult conditions, " said the Minister for Health. The Ukrainian Ambassador assured the willingness to respond operationally to the needs in connection with the provision of healthcare. Slovakia has already donated 36 emergency medical vehicles and other material assistance to Ukraine. The discussion also addressed the issue of the treatment of Ukrainian paediatric patients in Slovakia, in particular cancer patients, whose treatment is at risk due to damage to the National Cancer Institute in Kiev. Slovakia has offered its capacity to accept these patients and provide the necessary healthcare. Another topic of the meeting was the assessment of the possibility of signing a memorandum on cooperation in health between countries.
The Ukrainian Ambassador appreciated the contribution of the Slovak Republic so far and thanked for his solidarity with the population of our eastern neighbour. In the framework of long-term cooperation, the Minister and Ambassador agreed on the need to deepen expert consultations in specific areas such as pharmaceutical legislation, transplantation, health education, international scientific research and digitisation. The aim is to ensure the effective sharing of knowledge and expertise between both countries. The Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic remains an active partner of Ukraine and through professional and material activities supports efforts to stabilise and develop the health system of Ukraine.
