After last week's approval of the significant increase in health pay, the government of the Slovak Republic comes with another financial injection for health workers. Since today's approval of contributions to 25 health professions promises to reduce their departure to other countries, to increase interest in study as well as to avoid shortage of doctors, nurses, laborers and other health professions in hospitals, hospices, as well as medical spas or nursing homes.
Minister for Health Vladimir Lengvarsky: Health is important for all and the current government is aware of this. After years when it was financially undersized, this financial support was necessary and urgent. I personally consider this to be the first step towards stabilising and increasing the number of health professionals in the system. The second, no less important step, is our reforms, which we are working on intensively and which are also in favour of healthcare professionals and patients. An agreement with the employer shall be a condition for the payment of the stabilisation allowance by 19 December 2022 (including) at the latest, in which the employees undertake to remain in employment with the same employer for at least 3 years. The stabilisation contribution shall subsequently be paid by 31 December 2022, amounting to a maximum of EUR 5 000. The payment of the stabilisation contribution will concern more than 39 000 healthcare professionals:
