These days SLOVACRIN published a significant document - The Road Map of academic clinical research in Slovakia 2022, which allows for speeding up and streamlining access to innovative treatment for patients, increasing the prestige of doctors and scientists, allowing their publication activities. It also helps in direct savings of public health insurance funds. It creates new jobs and provides subsequent training. It increases the quality of national and international clinical research, while international partnerships significantly reduce financial costs and allow for the transfer of the latest knowledge in a relatively short time.
Published Travel map of academic clinical research in Slovakia 2022: Travel map - slovacrin.sk means a benefit for all – offers a comprehensive description of the current state of clinical research in health institutions in Slovakia, defines the scientific focus of hospitals, identifies the clinical trial departments and describes the available capacities, previous experience and the range of services provided that the department is able to provide. This map also describes the current needs of hospitals, clinical trial departments and clinical trial centres. It is a prerequisite for strengthening translational and clinical research based on the acute need to implement new, innovative products, processes and procedures into clinical practice, which clearly lead to an improvement in the quality of healthcare provision.
In 2018, the Ministry supported the entry of the Slovak Republic into the pan-European consortium ECRIN-ERIC for clinical trials through the national partner SLOVACRIN, coordinated by the Faculty of Medicine of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice. SLOVAKIA strategically builds national research infrastructure by linking hospitals, universities and scientific institutions involved in academic clinical research (non-commercial clinical trials). Currently, more than 20 institutions representing university and faculty hospitals, specialised hospitals, private hospital networks, universities and scientific institutions have joined SLOVAKIA. Its benefit was also shown at the time of the COVID-19 pandemic, when SLOVACRIN brought international, multicentre, adaptive clinical trial funded by H2020, which allowed safe and latest therapy for patients with this disease, and also participated in the mapping of the pandemic situation in Slovakia through top-notch studies.

SLOVACRIN works closely with the Ministry of Health, the Institute for Research and Development and the National Institute for Cancer, in particular in implementing the activities of the National Cancer Programme Action Plans, as well as the project to establish a system biobank infrastructure as a prerequisite for the development of quality biomedical research (the BIOFORD project funded by ESIF).
In 2022, the Ministry of Health also set up a working group consisting of representatives of the Ministry (Institute of Research and Development, Department of Pharmacy and Drug Policy, Section of Health), ŠÚKL, Ethics Committee for Clinical Trials of the Slovak Republic, National Cancer Institute, National Cancer Institute, National Institute of Children's Diseases and SLOVAKIA, which deals with academic clinical research and prepares the basis for the amendment of Act No. 362 Coll. on Medicinal Products and Medical Devices regulated by the Clinical Trial, and Act No. 576 Coll. on Health Care, healthcare-related services that regulate biomedical research.
