Following the recently approved National Mental Health Programme and the Action Plan of the National Mental Health Programme 2024-230, the first WHO Quality Rights training was held in Slovakia between 10 and 12 September 2024, which focuses on alternatives to restricting agents used in healthcare establishments. 27 experts from 12 psychiatric institutions took part in the training, which is another important step in the ongoing reform of mental health care.
Training supported by the European Commission is co-organised by WHO Office in Slovakia, WHO Regional Office for Europe and the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic. These institutions, together with national experts, work together in partnership creating the preconditions for human, modern and accessible mental health care. The event was attended by international experts who present their rich experience and knowledge in dynamic interaction and dialogue with Slovak participants, thus contributing to the ongoing reform to improve mental health care in Slovakia.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) QualityRights initiative aims to bring about fundamental changes in mental health care by improving the quality of service and promoting individual rights. The ultimate objective of the initiative is to improve care procedures and to enable service providers to promote the rights and recovery of people living with these conditions.
