Representatives of health, foreign and interior resorts handed over 18 rescue vehicles to the Ambassador of Ukraine in the Slovak Republic to Myroslav Kastrana, who will help save lives in our eastern neighbor. In the past, the health department provided 24 ambulances and implemented additional humanitarian aid.
Another 18 emergency medical service vehicles were taken over by the Ukrainian party from the hands of representatives of the Slovak Republic in Bratislava today. At a time of war in Ukraine, which is unfortunately still ongoing, it is essential that our eastern neighbour be provided with assistance and cooperation in the field of health, and the State Secretary of the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic Ladislav Sloboník said. As he added, we are helping to ensure health care in this form directly in Ukraine. The Health Department is ready to respond to the situation and provide the necessary assistance, added the State Secretary. The Ambassador of Ukraine to the Slovak Republic expressed his thanks not only for the ambulances, but also for all the humanitarian aid and support of Ukraine from the Slovak Republic.
The Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic has previously brokered rescue vehicles that help save the lives of Ukrainian citizens. In December 2023, in cooperation with the Rescue Health Service Bratislava and Spišská Catholic Charity, we sent 16 vehicles to Ukraine for emergency medical services. Subsequently, in 2024, another 8 vehicles were directed to our eastern neighbours.
By means of bilateral donation, the resort provided 60,000 doses of Covid-19 disease vaccines and material-humanitarian assistance in the form of equipment and medical supplies. Following the crisis that followed the July bombing of the National Cancer Institute, based in Kiev, the Department of Health, together with the National Institute of Children's Diseases, offered operational assistance to provide the necessary healthcare for children with cancer.
