Health Minister Kamil Šaško today, December 9, 2024, informed the social partners about the state of negotiations with the Medical Trade Union Association and the fulfilment of its requirements.
The social partners in the tripartite view the positive efforts of MZ SR to negotiate and constructively address our health problems. The head of the resort was supported in his efforts to implement recovery measures. At the same time, they expressed concern about the critical situation in the health sector as a result of mass statements by doctors. The government's legislative measures to provide medical care are considered as a last resort, so both sides called for agreement.

Despite all the negotiations and concrete results, the representatives of the LOC continue to insist that they continue their statements. As this option remains realistic, it is my duty as Minister of Health and the government's duty to ensure that even in the event of adverse developments, Slovak patients receive the necessary healthcare after 1.1. said Minister of Health K. Šaško. However, if there is no alternative, we will not have a choice and we will be forced to declare an emergency. This will not be an emergency, we will not limit any rights and obligations of citizens. But I stress that I do not want to take this step, and I still believe that we will not have to do it,' adds the Minister for Health. At the same time, the social partners declared that they were ready to help to achieve a successful outcome of negotiations between MZ SR and LOZ.
DECLARATION BY THE SOCIAL PARTNERS OF THE ESCSThe social partners in the tripartite are concerned about the critical health situation as a result of mass statements by doctors. We believe that human life and health must not be a hostage to negotiations between the Medical Trade Union Association (LOZ) and the Ministry of Health. We have taken note of the Health Minister's report on the state of the negotiations, as well as on the fulfilment of the requirements of the LOP, and we appreciate the positive efforts of the Ministry of Health to negotiate and constructively address the problems of Slovak health. We call on stakeholders to move towards a rational solution that will calm the situation and ease the escalation of public tensions and uncertainty. We respect that trade unions have a legal right to defend their interests, but their way of doing so should not lead to the paralysis of the sector. On the other hand, the State has an obligation to protect the constitutional rights of citizens. We see the government's legislative measures to provide medical care as a last resort. And we call on both sides to make sure that it does not have to be implemented. The social partners are prepared to help achieve the successful outcome of the negotiations if interested parties so request.
