At the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic today, the Health Budget Board met. The negotiations were attended by representatives of the finance department, the management of the Health Care Supervisory Authority and representatives of all three health insurance companies. The main theme was public health spending on healthcare provision.
The health department was very interested in the views of individual health insurance companies on their management. The Ministry of Finance of the Slovak Republic announced to all that limits of public health insurance expenditure on health care were set for 2024, which were announced at the end of June 2024. The limit on healthcare expenditure for 2024 is EUR 7 682 169 080, i.e. 100% of the programme decree. According to the Finance Department, this amount cannot be exceeded by health insurance companies or healthcare providers. This is the Slovak Republic's commitment to compliance with public spending limits that have been set for all sectors. The participants agreed that they would all jointly seek systemic measures to improve the outlook for health insurance.
Minister of Health Zuzana Dolinková said: I communicated with both the President of the SFO and the Director-General of the SFO on the current economic situation in the SEZP. In the light of the conclusions of the SPA, I await the presentation of recovery measures by the SPA, which I believe will be presented within days. After familiarising ourselves with these proposals, we will report on the next steps regarding the stabilisation of the financial condition of the state health insurance company.
The next Council meeting will take place at the end of July 2024.
