"Strengthening the health statistical information system and harmonising it with EU requirements"
On 14 July 2006 a conference was held at the National Health Information Centre on the occasion of the completion of the PHARE project entitled "Strengthening the health statistical information system and its harmonisation with EU requirements'.
The National Health Information Centre (NCZI), one of the main tasks of which is to provide health statistics and to provide calculated health indicators to both domestic and international institutions, is starting to fulfil this role in renovated areas on Lazaretska Street in Bratislava through the new information system of health indicators.
This information system has been developed with the support of the European Union under the Phare project.
The aim of the project was to technically strengthen the Data Centre at the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic and NZCI.
The health indicator information system is a production line for the design, collection and evaluation of statistical survey data and their provision in the form of health indicators to both domestic and foreign institutions. For the NCSI, the implementation of the new system implies a fundamental change in the procedures for carrying out statistical surveys and providing their results in a timely manner. The new system will allow reporting agents to register statistical statements via the Internet. The architecture of the system allows to complement the system with new specific inputs and outputs according to the current needs of statistical surveys.
The health indicator information system is the output product of one of the 3 components of this project.
The second component was the Twinning Light assistance carried out by a twinning partner from Germany, the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Affairs. The purpose of the twinning component was to develop a comparative analysis of health indicators, to harmonise and redefine the required methodology and terminology of health indicators, taking into account the requirements of international organisations, to specify the requirements for hardware and software needed to use the newly developed methodology
Complementary to the previous two was the third component, where the necessary hardware was delivered according to the specified requirements of the beneficiaries.
