The Ministry of Health modernises equipment for patients suffering from mental illness. In the framework of the Recovery and Resilience Plan, the resort announced a call for material and technical equipment totalling 1.3 million Euro. Institutional psychiatric care facilities can thus apply for funds to buy, for example, oxymeters, anaesthetic devices, defilbrillers or other equipment.
We see investment in mental health care as one complex whole. We support further training of professionals in this area, we modernise departments in institutional psychiatric care, we expand the network of psychiatric staff and psychosocial centres. Of course, we cannot forget the material and technical equipment of the equipment too,' says Ján Krajči, Director-General of the implementation section of the Recovery and Resilience and Reform Plan.
Health care providers may be involved in the call for the renewal of material and technical equipment, with a single application for one instrument of every kind. It is possible to participate in the call by 31 July 2023. All information on the call is available on the website of the Ministry of Health. Investments from the Recovery and Resilience Plan are part of the ongoing reform of psychiatric care. It was the care of mental health in Slovakia for many years that stood on the fringe of interest despite available statistics, which state that at least four percent of Slovak inhabitants suffer from one or more mental disorders.
In addition to investment, the Ministry of Health prepared legislative changes. Thus, there is new legislation on the table that defines health care in facilities for patients suffering from mental disorders who, by their behaviour, threaten themselves or their surroundings. Work on the first detention facility in Slovakia is currently finished.
