The Pandemic Commission of the Government of the Slovak Republic met at the Ministry of Health yesterday (day 26.8.2024). The purpose of the Commission's discussion was to discuss and approve the statutes of the expert working groups set up for the approved documents from the WHO workshop.
The Pandemic Commission approved the statutes of the expert working groups on the drafting of the texts of the Global Pandemic Agreement and the revised International Health Regulations. One working group will examine expertly the draft Pandemic Agreement, the adoption of which is planned at the World Health Assembly in May 2025, in the event that the States fail to reach consensus at an earlier date.
The Second Working Group on International Health Regulations will consider the text of the revised articles adopted on 1 June this year. To date, the revised documents have not been distributed to Member States by the WHO. After their delivery MZ SR will then send documents to all members of the extended expert working group in Slovak language.
Both expert groups are based on the pre-existing status of the Pandemic Commission of the Government of the Slovak Republic (Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic (mzsr.sk)), which was extended to include members from health professionals and professional public. The goal of the Ministry of Health is to arrive at a uniform position which will protect the interests of the Slovak Republic and its citizens as far as possible.
