Minister of Health of the Slovak Republic Zuzana Dolinková withdrew from the post of Chairman of the Board of Directors of General Health Insurance Company, a.s. and Director General Michal Ďuriš. He has been appointed to serve since 11 January 2024.
Until the appointment of the third member of the board of directors of the VZP, the remaining members of the board of directors of Matej Fekete as vice-president and member of the board of directors of Matúš Jurové will be acting on behalf of the VZP for a maximum period of 3 months.
The unfavorable development of the management of the state health insurance company and the imposition of recovery measures by the Health Care Supervisory Authority requires a clear crisis management of an organisation that manages a budget of EUR 5 billion. This is the largest amount of resources that must be allocated effectively to healthcare provision. The Ministry of Health, as the sole shareholder of the General Health Insurance Agency, continuously monitors the staff and economic condition of its largest subordinate organisation, At the same time, she added that it is in her interest that the PES should be not only at the time of the pre-insurance campaign, but a continuous leader in healthcare provision. I realize that the responsibility for the management of such an organization is extremely difficult. I therefore believe that the steps we are taking as a shareholder will be directed towards the necessary stabilisation and guaranteeing the availability of healthcare for patients.
I would like to thank Mr Ďuriš for his cooperation and commitment to leading the largest health insurance company so far, and Minister Dolinková added.
