The Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic, in cooperation with NCZI, initiates registration for vaccination with vaccines against COVID-19, adapted to the Omicron variant. These vaccines should only be given as booster doses.
At the beginning of September, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) approved modified versions of the original COVID-19 vaccines from Pfizer-Biontech and Modern to ensure better protection against the current dominant variant of micron.
Interested in vaccination with adapted vaccines can register via corona.gov.sk. By the end of the week, they will be allocated dates according to the available capacities of the gradually opening vaccination centres.
New antimicrobial vaccines cannot be given as first doses. Vaccines are only intended for booster doses, i.e. they can only be given to persons who have already received primary vaccination with original COVID-19 vaccines.
During the first week, it will be vaccinated by registration in 15 vaccination centres (in 12 Comirnate-Pfizer and in three Spikevax-Moderna vaccines, with a complete list of the centres listed in the table below).
Vaccination with the micron vaccine Comirnate by Pfizer-Biontech will take place in vaccination centres (especially hospitals), as well as in clinics of doctors in the general medical network for adults and general practitioners for children and adolescents. However, the process of contracting the subjects concerned is currently underway and therefore the vaccination centres will be involved gradually.
If the candidate enters the preferred vaccination centre when registering outside those listed, he will be moved to the so-called waiting room and assigned the date in the selected vaccination centre as soon as possible. As mentioned above, vaccination in these vaccination centres will be triggered gradually after all legal obligations have been fulfilled. Therefore, if people are interested in administering the vaccine as soon as possible, they are advised to choose from among the listed or offered vaccination centres.
Adapted vaccines may be given as first or second booster doses:
* persons over the age of 12,
*at least 3 months after the last dose,
Vaccines are intended for both healthy population and risk groups. These vaccines can be given (combined) after the previous dose of any vaccine against COVID-19 available in the Slovak Republic, including Vaxzevria (AstraZeneca), JCOVDEN (Janssen) or Sputnik V.
