From 14 February, the health department also starts vaccination with a booster dose for children aged 12 to 17 years. Booster will receive a benefit on the basis of a completed application whose model is available on the portal korona.gov.sk.
The updated guideline of the Ministry of Health allows the administration of a booster dose of vaccine against COVID-19 to a fully vaccinated person even from 12 to 17 years of age + 364 days. Vaccination will be allowed at the request of a legal representative. It is first vaccinated 3 months after the last dose. However, it is optimal to give a booster dose up to 4 to 6 months after previous vaccination, based on studies and recommendations from the World Health Organisation, FDA, CDC, STIKO and others. As with the first two doses, Pfizer/Biontech is also given as a booster dose.
A parent or legal representative may apply for vaccination of a child from the age of 12 through the registration form on the page korona.gov.sk or use the option of vaccination without registration. In addition to vaccination in vaccination centres, children will also vaccinate selected paediatric patients in their clinics. Guideline of the MZ SR, which allows vaccination with a booster dose of vaccine against COVID-19, is effective from 14 February 2022.
