In the week from 1.10.2024, vaccination starts in the vaccination centers in Slovakia with the latest adapted vaccine Comirnate JN.1 which provides increased protection against the currently most widespread variant. The vaccine can be given as a first dose, but also three months after the last dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
It is possible to apply for vaccination via the website NATIONAL HEALTH PORTAL (www.npz.sk), where the date of vaccination will be assigned and sent to the candidate.
Comirnate JN.1 vaccine from the company Pfizer/Biontech may be administered:
- first or next dose,
- persons over 12 years of age, persons aged 5 – 11 years and also aged 0.6 4 years
- at least 3 months after the last dose of COVID-19
Vaccines are intended for a healthy population, but also for risk groups. This vaccine can be given (combined) after the previous dose of any vaccine against COVID-19 available in the Slovak Republic, but at least 3 months after the last dose of vaccine. Vaccination without registration is still possible. List of centers is published on MZ SR website:https://www.mzsr.sk/?
COvid-19 can still cause long-lasting health effects. The best way to prevent this risk is through vaccination. The state provided free vaccination for all citizens in Slovakia. It is now up to every citizen to protect their own health. Experts also recommend to follow basic hygiene measures such as regular and intense ventilation, home testing for symptoms of the disease, or after attending a mass event or thorough hand washing. It is also recommended to use a respirator at mass events or when travelling by public transport and so on.
Details of the vaccines are published on the SWD website:Search in the database of registered drugs (sukl.sk)
