V For the first time in Slovakia, the National Institute of Children's Diseases (NHD) has been carrying out a robotically assisted withdrawal of the kidney from a living donor intended for the child. This kinship kidney transplant between mom and daughter took place in one workplace.

Behind this outstanding medical success lies the strong human story of a mother who gave her daughter a chance for a healthier life. This is an important milestone for Slovak transplant medicine, but especially good news for patients and their families. I thank all the paramedics who participated in this exercise. They confirmed that we can provide care at the highest professional level in Slovakia as well, while not forgetting people and their loved ones, said Minister of Health Kamil Šaško.
This kinship kidney transplant between mother and child in one workplace is a beautiful example of how patient - and family - oriented health care may look. This exercise is the result of the cooperation of many professionals from different professions and workplaces. This transplant showed that even in Slovakia we can perform at the highest level, while not forgetting that the child and his family are always at the heart of our attention, Peter Barton, MPH.
The robotic system da Vinci, which is the most modern way of removing the kidney from a living donor, has been used in the performance and the NÚDCH has this device thanks to the funds from the Recovery and Resilience Plan.At the same time, this is an extremely gentle approach for the donor. I am very pleased that we have managed to implement the whole process in one workplace. Mom and daughter could be together during the entire hospital, which is a huge benefit not only medically but also human. Mom felt great after the surgery, she could be with her daughter the next day as a guide. It is precisely such results that we are convinced that it makes sense to use state-of-the-art technologies and constantly push the boundaries of what we can offer patients;ņ added doc. MUDr. Ján Breza ml., PhD., chief Clinics of Paediatric Urology LF UK and NÚDCH.

According to MUDr. Victor Jankó's great advantage was that both organ procurement and transplantation took place in one medical facility. The time between renal procurement and transplantation was extremely short, which contributed significantly to an excellent outcome. The transplanted kidney began to function very quickly and the patient's results exceeded our expectations. stated.
The first family to complete the entire process was 15 - year - old Diana and her mother, Silvia. In particular, both appreciated the possibility of staying together throughout treatment and recovery. The biggest gift was not just the transplant itself, but also the fact that we could be together during the entire treatment, said Mother.
This medical performance represents an important step in the development of children's transplant medicine in Slovakia and creates preconditions for further development of similar performances in the future.Tlačová konferencia v NÚDCH k prvej príbuzenskej transplantácii obličky na jednom pracovisku
