The hospital with the Royal Chlmec Polyclinic opened the renovated premises today. Recovery for more than EUR 5.1 million from the Recovery and Resilience Plan was carried out in full operation and provides patients with 84 renovated beds and 15 beds of subsequent care. Hospital is the nearest medical facility for 60,000 inhabitants of Medzibodrožie and Použie.

The hospital has replaced windows, insulated cladding, repaired roof and restored interiors of pavilions A, B, C and E on the second and third floors. Patients lie in modern double rooms and single insulation rooms with private bathroom.

This hospital is not for closure, it's for investment. For 60,000 people from Medzibodrožie and Použie is the closest certainty. The next emergency hospital is 55 kilometres from here through the railroad crossing, so healthcare must remain available right heresaid Health Minister Kamil Šaško.

The reconstruction started on 1 December 2025 and the construction works were completed by the end of August 2026. The first renewed rooms were handed over to patients in June. The hospital worked without interruption throughout the reconstruction.

The reconstruction was carried out in full operation of the bedroom departments and outpatient sector. Despite noise, dust, difficult working conditions and the necessary constraints, you have remained patient, professional and, above all, you have not stopped providing our patients with the necessary healthcarethanks to the staff director of Clara Hencel Hospital.

It's money that goes directly to the patient. Modern rooms are also the strongest argument for both young doctor and nurse to stay working here. Thank you to all the paramedics who have taken care of patients along the construction site for monthsadded the minister.

For years people from Medzibodrožie and Usia said that their hospital needed reconstruction. I am glad that money has been found on it from the Recovery and Resilience Plan and that they see the result today. Residents of the Trebišov and Michalovce districts have a modern hospital near home, with doctors and nurses who also speak Hungarian. Now I want to get new doctors and nurses to come to regional hospitals. There are motivational scholarships for students and rental housing for health care professionals returning to work heresaid Igor Šimko, a member of the health committee of the NR SR and a government representative for the plan for recovery and resilience.

In recent years, the hospital has also been modernised from other sources. Within the framework of the cross-border programme Interreg Next cooperates with hospitals in Kisvárd, Hungary and Uzhgorod, Ukraine, and has received an ultrasonic apparatus worth €109 620 for general abdominal diagnosis and examination. In 2024, almost EUR 603 000 was supported for the green roof of the Green Hospital project.
