Banská Bystrica Hospital opened reconstructed delivery halls

At the II. Gynaecological-born clinic of SZU in the Faculty Hospital with the Polyclinic F. D. Roosevelt in Banská Bystrica, they reconstructed the delivery halls. On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, in the presence of the Minister of Health of the Slovak Republic Kamil Šaška, they were inaugurated for future mothers.
Gynaecological and reproductive clinic of SZU is one of the five Perinatological Centres in Slovakia, where they provide the most professional health care. Hospitals and clinics depend most on the satisfaction of mothers not only with care, but also with conditions in which they spend the most beautiful moments of life. VI am very pleased that future mothers are waiting at the Faculty Hospital with the Polyclinic F. D. Roosevelt in Banská Bystrica modernized delivery halls that will provide them with the safety, comfort and respect they deserve. I believe that these spaces will also contribute to the positive experiences of this extraordinary moment in the life of every mother as well as the whole family,said Minister of Health Kamil Šaško.
We realise that today, the aesthetic side and comfort in pregnant women are important factors in the choice of the maternity home. Therefore, we saw the reconstruction of the operating halls as necessary, although the construction of a new hospital is currently under way, where we will provide women with a completely different standard. However, by 2029 it is still a long time to provide maternity care in the original premises. I am very pleased that after the renovation of the department of sixth grade, we will be able to provide Moms with more comfortable conditions during childbirth, Ing. Miriam Lapuníková, MBA, explained. As the current premises will serve the parents, only until the completion of a new hospital, the management has invested funds in the partial renovation of the premises. The walls, ceiling ceilings, floors, built-in furniture were renovated. The walls refreshed the interior with a patch of floral wallpapers. Three delivery halls are renovated, rooms for moms are for waiting women, admission offices, facilities for staff and accompanying persons.

Widespread alternative delivery options–In our centre we provide the most comprehensive care for pregnant women. We deal with all parents, but at the same time we are a specialized center for at-risk pregnancies, when birth occurs often before the deadline. We provide the highest possible professional care for such parents and newborns. That is why we wanted to create a more comfortable environment that corresponds to current trends. The renovation of the premises will provide us with an extension of the possibility of leading in alternative ways that women are now in demand. What still makes our maternity home different is also the possibility of staying with a parent and a child in an above standard room, approached the head of the clinic doc. Dr. Karol Dókuš, PhD.
The news is the delivery couch– SI am very pleased that we have managed to make the birth tract space more comfortable for our parents, accompanying persons and, of course, for the staff. We care that Mommy leaves us with the best experiences and impressions of childbirth. Space is important, but in my understanding, the most important concept of parenting is. We see birth as a physiological event that requires, above all, peace and a sense of understanding based on mutual trust and respect for the care between a woman and a midwife. Then, giving birth can be a deep and emotionally charged experience that women carry around their lives. For women who prefer alternative positions we purchased a birth couch, which allows to improve the comfort and efficiency of the birth process, allows variation of different positions and contributes to a positive birth experience. Of course, a mother's escort, who can be psychologically supportive, can also help physically, after giving birth is a partner/carrying person part of the first baby treatment, a boning, which, if the mother and the baby are okay, is a matter of course. If it wouldn't be possible for Mommy to be a boning partner, he could be a partner. Reconstruction of the premises cost the hospital about 100 thousand Euro, implemented it mainly with the help of internal personnel capacities and financed from the funds that the clinic obtained by collecting fees for above standard rooms.
