Faculty Hospital with Polyclinic F.D. Roosevelt in Banská Bystrica signed a contract with the contractor for the construction of a new hospital today after the award procedure. Nothing in this way prevents further implementation of the project. The construction works will start soon. The Ministry of Health continuously communicates with Roosevelt Hospital on the process and schedule of the construction of a new hospital financed into the gross construction of the Recovery and Resilience Plan. I am pleased that the Slovak patient is one step closer to the hospital for the 21st century,' said Minister of Health Zuzana Dolinková.
The minister has already assured several times that she will do everything she can to ensure that the European money from the Recovery and Resilience Plan, which is intended for the construction of reconstruction, modernisation and renewal of medical facilities across Slovakia, does not fall and is used where necessary. Thanks to this large investment, we can deliver better health care, as investment in the modernisation of health facilities is crucial for the development of infrastructures and the progress of our health care. added Zuzana Dolinková.
Construction of Roosevelt Hospital was included in the projects financed by the Recovery and Resilience Plan by the Government Resolution No 334/2023. In October 2023, the Public Procurement Office published the contractor's public procurement at the request of Roosevelt Hospital. The deadline for the submission of tenders expired on 8 February 2024 and was subsequently evaluated by the hospital. A total of 5 candidates applied for the tender. The contract award notice was published on 22 March 2024. After its publication, the Office for Public Procurement received an objection from one of the unsuccessful tenderers, under which the Office suspended the proceedings on 7 May 2024.
The Association of Hospital BB, STRABAG PS (SIEBERT + TALAŠ) with a winning bid of EUR 297 457 418,13, VAT excluded, became a successful bidder.
The new Roosevelt Hospital building in Banská Bystrica is the largest medical project of the Recovery Plan. Central Slovakia deserves a new modern hospital and I am pleased that the Recovery Plan contributes to improving the quality of healthcare provided. The patient must be in the first place and has the right to first-class healthcare regardless of which part of Slovakia he lives in. I wish the management of the hospital, the contractor and also all residents of the catchment region to implement this project within the required deadline and proof that the historically largest reform and investment project in Slovakia - Recovery and Resilience Plan - brings us another level closer to the top of the EU countries. Progress in implementation must be our common objective, said Peter Kmec, Deputy Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic for the Recovery and Resilience Plan and the Use of Eurofunds.
I believe that such a complex project, such as the construction of the new Roosevelt hospital without a doubt, will be a strong added value for the patients of the region, employees, but also for the whole of Slovakia. At the same time, I believe that a positive vision will help us overcome all obstacles and achieve the successful goal of opening a new hospital in Banská Bystrica, added F.D. Roosevelt Miriam Lapuníková, director of the Faculty Hospital.
The new hospital in Banská Bystrica is one of the most important investments in health infrastructure in Slovakia in recent decades. The basic idea of this project is to centralise health operations into a functional whole with optimisation of health care links, patient movement, medical staff, operational flows in the field of hospital supply and the necessary and necessary development of technical facilities and infrastructure.
Construction will include the construction of the main hospital building and the building of infectious disciplines and technical operations. The modern concept of buildings will be equipped with state-of-the-art technologies and many processes will be digitised and automated. The comfort of patients and employees is also maximised. Rooms will be designed as a priority for one and two patients. Each patient room will have its own bathroom (shower, toilet). The building also includes a parking house, which will increase the number of parking spaces and improve the current very problematic parking situation in the hospital area and its surroundings.
