A two-day informal meeting of Ministers of the 28 Member States responsible for health care in Bratislava was launched today. Informal meeting is led by the Minister of Health of the Slovak Republic Tomáš Drucker and also attended by the European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety Vytenis Andriukaitis. I consider this informal meeting to be an excellent opportunity, because we can open important topics that are not only about Slovakia but also about other EU Member States. We can exchange experiences and knowledge, inform each other and talk about proposals for solutions, said T. Drucker in this regard. The main theme of today's negotiations is the reformation of food and the lack of human medicines. Our goal is to provide quality and affordable treatment for our patients. We are focusing on the root causes of drug unavailability. These include, for example, low drug prices and subsequent parallel exports, says the head of the Slovak health department. On Tuesday, the informal ministerial meeting will continue with a debate on both antimicrobial resistance and tuberculosis in Europe, in terms of treatment, multiresistance and vaccination.
