The technical conditions for setting up new kindergartens will be simplified, creating opportunities to increase the number of children admitted. The changes are made by the Decree of the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic on details and requirements of the facilities for children and youth that came into force.
Every year, parents of pre-school children struggle with problems of how to place their children in kindergartens, whose capacity often does not meet the interest. The Decree regulates the technical requirements for kindergartens which will no longer have to be obliged to dispose of external land, adjusting the child's spatial requirements with the maintenance of an optimal hygiene standard. The changes are expected to have a positive impact on the incentives of cities, municipalities and other bodies to set up new kindergartens thanks to more free conditions for new capacity building.
In facilities for children under 6 years of age, the area of the game room and bedroom is set at 3 square meters per child. One bed for sleeping is reserved space of at least 1.7 square meters. The sanitary facilities shall have washable walls and floors.
After the new schools may no longer be obliged to have an outdoor area, they can use children's playgrounds, premises and parks within the amenities, which can increase the incentive to set up new nurseries due to increased interest in the location of children.
The decree does not in any way change the maximum number of children in the class provided for by the school law, ranging from 18 to 21 children per class according to the age of the children. However, due to the requirements of the past, some nurseries could not even fill these maximum numbers of children in classes.
Overall, a positive effect is also expected in the implementation of the Recovery and Resilience Plan due to the change of decree due to more free conditions for new capacity building.
