The Minister of Health of the Slovak Republic Kamil Šaško and representatives of the Association of State Hospitals of the Slovak Republic, the Association of Hospitals of Slovakia as well as all three health insurance companies signed today a Memorandum of Justice on the Financing of Institutional Healthcare.
I am convinced that this will contribute substantially to the stabilisation of Slovak health, said Minister of Health Kamil Šaško. This is the next step in favour of patients at the heart of our attention. Today's signing of the memorandum follows on from the two milestones already reached - the social reconciliation agreement signed with the Medical Trade Union and the recently concluded memorandum with the Union of Outpatient Providers. Today we are adding the third pillar of justice in hospital financing, and the Minister added his thanks to his partners for their extremely constructive approach.
The aim of the health department is to achieve fair and rules-based funding for hospitals by 2027 at the latest. This will be based on three pillars: the unification of basic rates between comparable hospitals, the gradual transition to the DRG performance system and the increase in the share of performance-adjusted payments. These steps will help stabilise hospitals, motivate efficiency, improve quality and create a sustainable environment for our healthcare professionals.
The signing of the memorandum was also appreciated by representatives of hospitals and insurance companies. Vice-President of the Association of Hospitals of Slovakia Igor Pramuk pointed out that the Ministry had managed to unite the health sector to address such difficult issues. President of the State Hospital Association Mongi Msolly stressed that fair funding was the basis. According to General Health Insurance Officer Matúš Jurové, the memorandum is a commitment and an expression that we all pull together.
