Due to the expiry of the so-called original Comirnate vaccines, from 1 June 2023 the vaccination will be temporarily suspended with the primary schedule of the vaccine, i.e. the first and second doses. 31 May 2023 is the end of the shelf life of all stocks of this vaccine in Slovakia.
However, the booster doses of the adapted Comirnate Original/Omicron BA.4-5 vaccine will continue to be continued.
The waiting lists for the second dose of the Comirnate vaccine will be contacted by Call by NCZI and rescheduled for a new date.
From 1 June 2023, only JCOVDEN (Janssen) vaccine by Johnson & Johnson will serve for the primary vaccination course of individuals over 18 years of age. Administration of doses of the primary schedule for children aged 12-17 years will also be suspended temporarily.
The administration of booster doses of the adapted vaccines (Comirnate Original/Omicron BA.4-5 and Spikevax bivalent Original/Omicron BA.4-5) will continue in the standard regimen. There are also no changes in vaccination of children aged 6 months and 11 years.
However, the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic awaits the decision to allow the administration of the modified vaccine (Comirnate Original/Omicron BA.4-5) also for the primary (primary) vaccination scheme, i.e. the first and second doses. All expert opinions are currently being completed and the public will be informed of the new vaccination strategy in the short term.
