University Hospital Bratislava continues to improve the healthcare provided to its patients and in the area of equipment recovery, the hospital has launched a modern angiography workplace. The workplace was opened by the Minister for Health Zuzana Dolinková together with the director of Bratislava University Hospital Alexander Mayer and dean of the Faculty of Medicine of Comenius University Juraj Payer.
Angiographer is an important imaging device in the diagnosis of vascular system diseases and allows a wide range of vascular and non-vascular interventional radiological procedures to be performed. The newly opened angiographic apparatus in the hospital in Kramáry will serve for minimal, endovascular treatment of a wide range of patients from all over Slovakia.
The new angiography site also required adequate premises. For this purpose, comprehensive building adjustments were made on the area of 437 m2 . Work on the site consisted of extensive demolition works and building modifications. Reinforcement of reinforced concrete structures by additional composite reinforcement was essential. A new air-technical unit has been installed for the newly created compartment that meets the demanding requirements for air cleanliness in the operating rooms. At the same time with the construction modifications was realized the assembly of the technology of two-plane angiography apparatus.
I am particularly pleased with every investment that goes to the reconstruction of medical facilities across Slovakia as well as the modernisation of the equipment of hospitals. The new angiographic workplace, which will reveal any vascular diseases, will be most recently appreciated by patients and doctors and other health professionals in Bratislava Kramar. Our priority is to increase the level of health care for the Slovak patient while at the same time improving the material and technical conditions in workplaces for healthcare professionals so that there are enough of them in the system. stated Minister of Health Zuzana Dolink.
Angiographer is part of the new JARIS interventional radiological care unit in UNB, which provides continuous acute and planned 24/7 final care for patients requiring complex endovascular procedures. This is particularly the case in patients with vascular diseases of the brain, such as cerebral aneurysms, vascular malformations, patients with acute stroke, embolism treatment of patients with liver cancer, endovascular treatment of patients with peripheral arterial disease of the lower limbs, abdominal aorta diseases, dialysis patients, renal transplant patients and other patients. In addition to this broad spectrum treatment intervention, angiography will also focus on new endovascular performances that will treat patients with an enlarged prostate or a patient with uterine fibroids. The angiographic apparatus includes cone beam CT technology, which is essential for navigation, at various intervention rates. Due to the location in Kramáry, the workplace will be able to use in the framework of UNB cooperation with the National Institute of Children's Diseases in the treatment of paediatric patients requiring various acute or planned endovascular performances.
