Ministry of Health prepared Slovakia in cooperation with renowned experts, legislative change to significantly improve• to provide management in the provision of care for cancer patients, by increasing the sustainability, quality and safety of care provided in collaboration between specialist ambulatory and general outpatient doctors. This amendment was adopted by a member of the NR of the Slovak Republic, Petra Krištúfková, who presented it as an amendment and was approved by Parliament by a large majority.
The ever-increasing number of new patients and the persistence of dispensed patients require healthcare to be systematised.
By default, oncologist follow-up is excluded from oncologist follow-up according to international recommendations. Once a year, they will be monitored by a general adult doctor as part of a preventive review. This is mainly due to possible later complications of oncology therapy, possible associated complications (e.g. worsening of liver function tests), relapse of the disease, etc. This is intended to help promote preventive inspections as one of the most effective means of preventing diseases and quickly addressing possible complications.
The Ministry of Health is also working on the amendment of the rules in lower legal standards, which will define new rules for preventive inspections and which will be regularly updated on the basis of the latest medical and scientific knowledge.
This is a global trend supported by a number of scientific studies and practical experience from abroad. However, the new legislation also addresses the issue of repeat laboratory tests, thus eliminating situations traumatic to these patients.
After a new general doctor:

1. care of the cancer patient in remission - the clinical oncologist will decide2. the clinical oncologist informs him of the types of examinations and frequency to be performed3. manages other chronic risk factors falling within its competence (e.g. arterial hypertension, dyslipidaemia, obesity..) and vaccinates (e.g. pneumococcal, flu).4. Ideally, at annual intervals, conducts a preventive review of the 5.
Oncological diseases are second to the causes of death of Slovaks. According to the 2020 Health Yearbook, published by the NCZI, this represents 23.7%.
