Vladimír Lengvarský, the Minister of Health, today symbolically opened a new investment chapter in Slovak health. He tapped the cornerstone of a new hospital in Martin and announced the support of three additional facilities from Euro funds.

The department of health management officially launched the construction of a new hospital in Martin. After decades of inactivity, other modern medical facilities will be created in Slovakia. In recent times, many changes have been made for the better. Although we are intensively engaged in reforms, we also remember the huge investment debt we have towards health care. We want to invest primarily in the comfort of patients and health professionals. We're making a huge amount of effort to take advantage of the current opportunities and repay this debt. said Health Minister Vladimir Lengvarsky.

Saint Martin University Hospital will provide outpatient, diagnostic and therapeutic care. The new hospital will include urgent reception or tract for children's medicine. Construction costs amount to EUR 330 million from the Recovery and Resilience Plan of Slovakia. There will be 660 beds and the first patients could be treated in the hospital as early as 2026. In addition to Martin Hospital, the Ministry of Health is intensively working on the second project, at the University Hospital Bratislava in the locality Rázsochy.

In addition to the construction of a couple of new high-end hospitals, the health department is also engaged in modernising existing facilities. During the launch of the first works at a new hospital in Martin, the minister also announced three financial injections from the catching-up programming period. Overall, more than 21 million euro funds will be used and sent to hospitals in Dolný Kubín, Čadca or Ružomberok.

Despite the end of the programming period, we managed to support three other projects that will help improve health care in Slovakia. I believe there is no better investment than human health. Every euro invested will benefit from a higher quality of life in Slovakia, Vladimir Lengvarsky continues.

In Dolný Kubín, the ICU section of neurology will be renovated and the instrumental equipment of Dolnooravská hospital with the poliklinika MUDr. L. N. Jégého will be restored. At Kysuce Hospital with the poliklinika Čadca, the European funds will upgrade the technical equipment including CT apparatus or mobile X-ray apparatus. In the Central Military Hospital of SNP Ružomberok there will be a surgical pavilion.

We also pay great attention to other needs of Slovak health. We have launched a targeted scheme to support general medicine practice in vulnerable regions. A total of 170 ambulances will be added. We modernize departments in institutional psychiatric care, expand the network of mobile and stone hospices or invest in home nursing agencies and other areas, closed Vladimir Lengvarsky.
