Today, Minister of Health, Zuzana Dolink, accepted the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Barbara Wolf. They discussed the state of play of reforms and investments under the Recovery and Resilience Plan or the hospital reform currently under way in both Slovakia and Germany.
Health sector investments and reforms are a prerequisite for improving and improving health care. The Recovery Plan is therefore an effective instrument for achieving the objectives set; underlined by the Minister for Health. Slovakia is currently implementing reforms in the field of optimisation of the network of emergency health services, integration and financing of long-term social and health care, centralisation of management of major hospitals and coordination of inter-ministerial cooperation. The Minister also believes that the exchange of information in this area will help to achieve the objectives and make health care and services in both countries more effective.
Another theme was hospital reform, which is relevant in both countries. Like Germany, Slovakia has a dense network of acute hospitals and therefore the optimisation of hospitals has been triggered. During the negotiations with the German ambassador, they also touched on the issue of the DRG reimbursement mechanism, which we discussed just from Germany. In Slovakia, the system has been in place for more than ten years and this year about 15-20 percent of care will be under DRG.
