Minister of Health of the Slovak Republic Zuzana Dolinková accepted an extraordinary and authorized ambassador of the United States in the Slovak Republic Gautama A. Rana. She presented him with the priorities of the resort and jointly discussed other possibilities for cooperation.
At the beginning of the meeting Zuzana Dolink welcomed the Ambassador of the United States and presented him with short, medium and long term priorities of the department, also summarised in the Programme Statement of the Government of the Slovak Republic. It looked at the most important activities for 2024. The Minister said that she managed to increase the budget by almost a billion euros this year compared to 2023.
It has also brought the state of play of the reforms under the Recovery and Resilience Plan. This year, less than EUR 8 billion will travel to health care in total. We must use these resources responsibly and efficiently. Priority will be given to the stabilisation of staff and to the development of a National Health Strategy, said the Minister.
The Minister of Health also described the ambassador's efforts and support for the health sector to include Voxzogo in the list of categorised medicines, which the marketing authorisation holder has not yet requested. It added that without this step it is not possible to cover this medicine from public health insurance.
Ambassador Gautam A. At the meeting, the wound was also interested in providing health care for citizens from Ukraine. Together, they discussed opportunities for further cooperation, in particular on investment in health, staff stabilisation, but also in education and in addressing common health challenges.
