Minister of Health Zuzana Dolinková is fully aware of the gravity of the situation in which the primary paediatrics are located in Slovakia. Therefore, already on Friday, October 27, the resort hosted its meeting of the president of the Slovak Primary Paediatric Care Society (SSPPS) Slovak Medical Society (SLS) and Chief Expert for General Child Care and Graduation Elena Prokopová with Minister for Health.
The chief expert explained to the Minister the current situation in primary paediatrics, explained the reasons for pediatricians' statements from outpatient emergency services and brought the situation of doctors who are currently in detention. Most primary paediatricians withdrew statements from contracts with outpatient emergency services providers. However, they expect an immediate systemic solution to collapsed pediatrics.
The head of the health department is aware of the seriousness and complexity of the issue. She thanked primary pediatricians for their constructive approach and persevere in their labor. She asked them for patience and promised an immediate solution to the problems in the context of the general outpatient care reform. Chief expert Elena Prokop and Minister for Health Zuzana Dolinková agreed that the most important thing is to maintain health care for small patients.
Following a meeting on the current state of the paediatric crisis, the Minister said: I am well aware of the seriousness of the situation in which, given the age structure of primary paediatrics, providing healthcare for children is a very sensitive issue. I am all the more pleased with their constructive approach. I appreciate the attitude of children's doctors who gave out-patient emergency statements in the summer, and they have withdrawn them for now. According to the available information, there are still a few statements from paediatrics, but they have submitted them for a different reason and time frame than their colleagues in the summer.
The expert company of primary pediatricians appreciates and welcomes this meeting at the very beginning of the new term of office of the Ministry of Health. The President's words SSPPS SLS Elena Prokop: The invitation to a working meeting with the Minister in the first days after taking office gives hope that the new Ministry's leadership is also aware of the need to continue intensive work for the stabilisation and development of childcare. Experts from those who provide care in the front line, i.e. primary paediatrics, are prepared by their expertise to contribute to the implementation of the adopted reform in practice as well as to other necessary steps to save primary care for the paediatric population.
