Minister of Health of the Slovak Republic Kamil Šaško today at a joint press conference with the Chairman of the Board and General Director of the General Health Insurance Agency (VšZP) Matthew Jurové personally thanked the employees of the state health insurance company for the extraordinary results achieved in 2024.
I would like to thank the VZP management, but especially all employees who, with their work and determination, helped not only to save the reputation of the insurance company, but above all to ensure quality health care for all of its insured persons. What we have done in the General Health Insurance we want to apply to the whole sector. We have an open start of operational, production and personnel audit in hospitals, we modernise the material and technical security of health care providers and optimize drug policy. said Minister of Health Kamil Šaško. He highlighted the fact that while in April 2024 all forecasts indicated a loss of almost EUR 200 million, the insurance company led by Matúš Jurové managed to close the year with positive economic results.
Chairman of the Board of Directors of the VZP Matthew Jurovov stressed that this success was supported by a whole team of experts: The GPS does not stand on one person. We have a strong team of experts who work daily to ensure quality and affordable healthcare for our policyholders. We have demonstrated that even in difficult conditions without additional funding of the sector, we can achieve balanced management without any impact on the availability of healthcare.
Over the past year, the insurance company faced significant challenges, including media pressure during the pre-insurance campaign. Nevertheless, it has succeeded in implementing optimisation measures and averting the threat of a recovery plan. The insurance company achieved these results by mobilising the entire team and optimising costs, which included several factors. For example, rethinking the concept of healthcare purchase or streamlining operational management. The aim is to increase the efficiency of the processes so that we can meet here for a year and take stock, if not better, of at least the same economic result. The cards have been dealt and we will try to play as best we can for the benefit of our policyholders. The insured person and his needs always come first for us, closed M. Jurové with the fact that balanced management becomes a new standard for VZP.
