Radiological clinic of the University Hospital Martin (UNM) is the first in Slovakia to use the modern robotic system. Artificial intelligence technology is unique throughout Central Europe. Martin Hospital is one of the leaders of modern interventional radiological methods. Let me congratulate the hospital and colleagues we have visited on being leaders in some technologies. I am happy about this and wish them every success in the diagnosis and treatment of patients, said the Minister of Health Vladimír Lengvarský. As informed UNM MUDr. Dušan Krkoška, PhD., MBA, interventional radiology has been a showcase for Martin Hospital for many years. We were able to get a robotic arm. It benefits both the patient and the physician in terms of safety. It is an innovative method.
The head of UNM doc. MUDr. Kamil Zeleňák, PhD. FCIRSE explained that with the help of the robotic arm it will be possible to perform therapeutic procedures for a certain distance. The huge advantage for the doctor will be a significant reduction in radiation dose. In principle, this technology allows certain therapeutic performances to be performed from elsewhere, not only within the hospital but also within the state or other continent. The limit is only data transfer rate. The system is specifically designed for endovascular coronary and peripheral neurovascular interventions. It allows measurements with a resolution of less than one millimeter, as well as precision diagnostics and information on the exact length of the stent that will be introduced to the patient on the damaged blood vessels. The doctor sees a picture on a large 4K monitor during the procedure.
The Minister of Health also visited the Institute of Medical Pathology UNM, which is one of the leaders of digital pathology in Slovakia. As the head of Prof. MUDr. Lukáš Plank, CSc. approached, pathologists after the treatment of samples taken by patients using different methods evaluate these samples in histology preparations prepared in laboratories.
