Minister for Health Vladimir Lengvarsky on Tuesday On March 8, he visited II. Gynaecological-natal clinic of the Faculty of Medicine of Comenius University and University Hospital Bratislava (LF UK and UNB) in Ružinov. He was accompanied by the head of the clinic, Professor Jozef Záhumenský, with whom they discussed topical topics such as births at the time of the COVID-19 pandemic and the provision of health care to pregnant women fleeing war in Ukraine.

The minister was welcomed by the director of the University Hospital Bratislava Ing. Roland Schaller, who also informed him about the state of the Ružinov clinic. Because of the number of women born, the birthplace in Ružinov is our largest maternity home. There are the least caesarean cuts, mothers and newborns in the hands of our top professionals are completely safe,The director of UNB Ing. Roland Schaller said. During last year a total of 3 156 children were born in Ružinov Hospital. A total of 32 of them came into the world with mothers who were infected with COvid-19 at the time. However, as Professor Záhumenský explained, neither measures at the clinic nor such situations presented any risk to the mother, child or staff. In this context, the head of the clinic also referred to the possibility of helping refugees from Ukraine: In the past, a very clever sister from Ukraine worked here, unfortunately she had to go back because she was not granted education. We taught it in Slovak in a few months. Sisters are still missing, and we would very much welcome to help Ukrainian refugees in this way too.

–The Ministry of Health has proactively prepared legislation, which has recently been approved by members of the OR SR, will facilitate access to our system for healthcare professionals from third countries. Thanks to the Institute of Temporary Traineeships, doctors and other medical professionals whose list has been extended will be able to care for the patient. The trainee shall carry out professional work activities under the professional supervision of a health professional qualified to carry out professional work activities in the relevant health profession. Internships may be conducted for a maximum of 18 months without interruption to one healthcare provider. I believe this move will also help hospitals in the personnel area, said Minister of Health Vladimír Lengvarský. Currently at UNB facilities, 32 Ukrainians work in different positions, in the Ružinov hospital is their most. We're really very happy with their work, hopefully they'll be able to employ other such clever people in the near future.," added Ing. Roland Schaller.

At the same time, the Minister of Health Lengvarský, in the framework of today's International Women's Day, handed the rose to women at the II. gynecology-born clinic in Ružinov and thanked them for their work.
