Minister of Health Kamil Šaško continues the series of round tables. After a discussion with representatives of the sector in the regions, today he discussed health education at the Slovak Medical University in Bratislava. Together with representatives of the academic community, pupils and students of health trade unions and health care providers, they sought solutions to improve the education of health professionals, but also as health professionals in the health system in Slovakia.
The Minister of Health invited not only representatives of the Slovak Medical University, where the discussion took place, but also representatives of all medical faculties and universities of educational health professionals. The meeting was attended by representatives of secondary health education and representatives of pupils and students preparing to pursue the health profession.
The Minister appreciated the participation of academic representatives from all over Slovakia. –Today is really proof that education is a key issue for all of us. Together we are looking for the best solutions to make medical studies more attractive and to link it to practice, said Minister of Health Kamil Šaško. It also considers it important to improve the conditions for the exercise of health professions, in particular the working environment in health establishments.
In the context of education, the minister stated that he would also pay attention to the following measures:-to address the adequate remuneration of teaching staff of secondary health schools and higher education teachers;-to modernise the material and technical equipment of secondary health schools and universities;-to ensure the building of simulation centres;-to ensure systemic funding measures for further (specialisation, certification and ongoing) training of health professionals;-to improve the practical part of further training of health professionals, focusing in particular on the management, organisation and implementation of processes; as well as motivation and responsibilities of trainers;-to establish mentoring as an important dimension of practical teaching.
