Minister of Health Kamil Šaško and State Secretary of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic for the Recovery Plan and the Knowledge Economy Alena Sabelová took part on October 7, 2025 in the inspection day at the construction of the new University Hospital Martine. Construction progresses according to the set timetable and other important milestones have been reached.
–The last time we met here, it was still below ground level, and there was a pit six months ago. We're on the first floor today. It is already visible to the naked eye that the construction of the Martin hospital is in full swing. Essentially, the deadline for meeting the shell and core milestone in June next year is achievable, said Minister of Health Kamil Šaško.
On the main building of the hospital are gradually finishing segments on the 1st and 2nd underground floors, managed to successfully cement the last working shot of the 2nd underground floor ceiling plate, which is the lowest floor completely closed. At the same time, the first working shot of the ceiling plate above 2. floor and the construction of columns for the 3rd floor began. Works on the underground parking house, engineering networks and electricity connections continue.
The University Hospital of St. Martin project is one of the most important investments in health infrastructure in Slovakia in recent decades. After completion, it will provide modern facilities for treating patients, teaching medicine and developing medical research. In the new hospital there will be a total of 660 newly built beds and will include the latest medical technologies.
–It is absolutely crucial for me to have adequate conditions for both doctors and patients as soon as possible. Upon completion, this new hospital will provide modern facilities for treating patients, teaching medicine and developing medical research. And so I trust many doctors to become one of the reasons they choose to stay in Slovakia, added the Minister for Health.
