The necessary mammographic examinations in screening and diagnostics are fully available to women in Slovakia. Mamographic screening will ensure high quality screening of women during breast cancer screening.
34 mammographic workplaces are currently included in the network of verified mammographic workplaces.These workplaces provide high-quality digital mammography with minimal radiation stress, evaluated by double reading. It also includes a mandatory statistical evaluation of the results, which ensures feedback and a high standard of care provided.
Mamographic screening is performed according to the 3rd revision of the standard procedure in women aged 45 74 years. It performs in the workplaces that have been checked - List of screening mammographic workplaces assessed by the Commission's temporary expert working group (https://www.health.gov.sk/Clanok?dops-focused-on-security-quality-on-mamographic-preventive-and-diagnostic-working sites).
Screening mammography is covered by public health insurance in workplaces, which are included in the list of screening mammographic workplaces published on the website of the Ministry of Health. At the same time, health insurance companies declare that in the first quarter of 2026 they will pay for all preventive mammography tests indicated in the preventive examination and in non-screening workplaces that have applied for inclusion in the list screening mammographic workplaces. Mamographic examination indicated by clinically indicated conditions continues to be performed as diagnostic mammography and is covered by public health insurance.
