The Categorisation Commission for Medicinal Products at the Ministry of Health approved the inclusion of other innovative medicinal products in the list of categorised medicinal products at the May meeting. Health insurance companies will thus treat patients with severe haemophilia, melanoma, breast cancer, but also migraines or other diseases.
Minister of Health of the Slovak Republic Zuzana Dolinková recalled that the faster entry of innovative medicines is in line with the government programme statement. The aim is to get medicines to patients in the standard way, i.e. after the categorization process, where their cost-effectiveness is proven and they become available to all patients who need them,' said the Minister for Health. As she added, after each meeting of the CEC, other and other modern medicines are included, which will significantly help in the treatment of often very serious diseases.
Since January 2024, more than 180 medicinal products have been included in the list of categorised medicinal products. It includes generic/biosimilar medicines, innovative medicines and medicines with the status of -orphan drugs, which are intended for rare diseases. The list of categorised medicines is updated monthly.
Medicinal products approved at the May meeting of the Categorisation Committee for Medicinal Products will be included in the categorisation list, i.e. covered by health insurance, from 1 August 2024.
