The Categorisation Commission for Medicinal Products approved at the August meeting other modern medicines, which will be reimbursed for Slovak patients. As from 1 November 2024, Sibnayal, Fintepa and Zynlonta will be added to the list of categorised medicines and Leqvio will be extended to include other diseases.
One of the medicines that will be covered by health insurance from December onwards is Fintepa with the active substance fenfluramine. It is indicated for the treatment of seizures associated with Dravet syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome as adjunctive therapy to other antiepileptics for patients aged 2 years and older. Patients are given as a solution. – In these diseases, the quality of life is reduced not only for patients, but also for their families or carers. There is a need for constant patient monitoring, which requires a constant presence of a parent; Minister for Health Zuzana Dolinková explained. As reported by studies and current available clinical data, the drug not only reduces the number of seizures, but also positively affects cognitive function and improves quality of life.
