One blood donor can save up to three human lives. This is why the employees of the Ministry of Health decided to set a personal example in the premiere year of the Ministerial Drop of Blood, which the resort organized together with the National Transfusion Service of the Slovak Republic (NTS SR), came to donate blood to 35 volunteers. Health Minister Kamil Šaško also calls on the public: who is healthy and can donate blood before the summer when blood supplies are lowest every year.

We have today at the Ministry as a sign of the most precious liquid. More than thirty of our colleagues have been involved, and I sincerely thank each of them. Donating blood is only a moment of your time, but it can give someone back his whole life. Therefore, I encourage anyone who is healthy and can not be afraid and blood donated, said Health Minister Kamil Šaško.– Blood donation is a sign of solidarity, each donor helps save lives and gives hope to patients who need blood in critical situations. I thank all donors for their selflessness and responsible approach to the health of our society, expressed by the State Secretary of MZ SR Michal Štofko. Blood donation saves lives and is an indispensable part of the treatment. A ministerial drop of blood is a symbol of helping people in need, and it aims to contribute to sufficient blood supply for every patient who needs it.

It takes only a moment to give blood, but it can save someone's life. I very much appreciate anyone who decides to help in this extremely important way, Ladislav Slobodník, State Secretary of the Slovak Republic. Regular replenishment of blood supply is particularly important for haematological patients, transplant patients and injuries, but also for postpartum women. Some medicines cannot be given to the patient without providing blood or blood transfusions from platelets or plasma. Donor blood saves lives from massive bleeding and without prepared blood, there are no surgeries, told the medical director of NTS SR Jana Rosochová. Blood collections are carried out by 12 collection centres of NTS SR throughout Slovakia:https://www.ntssr.sk/web/trade centreThe summer months are always difficult in terms of managing stocks of transfusion products. Even high daily temperatures are the reason why people have no will to come donate blood. Many also travel a lot, but often when they return from vacation they cannot donate because of the so-called "travel lockout," so it is more appropriate to do this act before they go on holiday, told project manager of NTS SR Martina Frigová. Interested people wishing to donate blood may be ordered by phone or via electronic form on the website of the Slovak National Transfusion Service:https://www.ntssr.sk/web/dotaznik
