A conference will be held in Bratislava on 20 September 2016 "Prevention of chronic non-communicable diseases and healthy lifestyle." This is one of the key priorities of the Slovak Presidency of the Council of the EU in the field of health. The aim of the Slovak Presidency is to strengthen objectives and activities in the field of combating chronic non-communicable diseases, with a focus on reducing the impactable risk factors and also strengthening and directing health care systems to address the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases. The experience of the Member States as well as the practice of good practice will be presented during the conference in order to support Member States in the so-called food reformulation and reduce the incidence of risk factors. This is one of the most effective tools to eliminate the occurrence of risk components in foods such as saturated fats, sugars and salts. The conference should result in a broader debate among the participating Member States in order to promote a common strategy for the prevention of chronic non-communicable diseases which are growing significantly worldwide.
