University Hospital L. Pasteur Košice and Children's Faculty Hospital with Polyclinic Košice enter the most extensive modernization in their history. Overall, it is worth more than €57 million from European, public and own resources. The money stays in the region and serves patients from all over Eastern Slovakia.
–Eastern Slovakia returns to the investment map of Slovak health. Children's patients from the whole region will have top diagnostics directly in Košice. And the superstructure, which has only been mentioned for years, is starting to build today. It's not enough to talk about problems, and to deliver the result.," says Minister of Health Kamil Šaško.
Children's Faculty Hospital with Polyclinic KošiceThe new MRI workplace for EUR 5.2 million from the Recovery Plan brings high quality of imaging at shorter examination time. For paediatric patients, this means less sedation and general anaesthesia. Part of the project is an environment adapted to children that helps them cope with the fear of examination. The workplace is in trial operation, fully serving patients in autumn 2026.
The second project is the extension of the hospital for more than 39 million euros, one of the largest investment projects in the history of the facility. Modern rooms for hospitalized patients will be created, Children's Clinic and Regrowing will move to new premises, the Department of Neonatology intensive medicine will be added and the capacity of Children's Oncology and Haematology department will be extended. The extension also creates conditions for future CT and RTG sites.

L. Pasteur Košice University HospitalUNLP is the terminal hospital of level IV and the only facility of its kind throughout Eastern Slovakia. The modernisation of its workplaces for more than 13 million euros is co-financed by the Recovery and Resilience Plan of the Slovak Republic, complemented by public and own resources of the hospital.
