Infusion solutions provided under outpatient care that are necessary for administration of the medicinal product have been in place since the beginning of February for patients without a surcharge. In practice, patients were paid for infusion solutions such as electrolytes and carbohydrates. The Ministry of Health has taken price measures effectively since 1 February 2026. The aim is to ensure the availability, transparency and predictability of the prices of these medicines, which are an essential element of healthcare provision. As a result of this effective intervention of MZ SR, patients will no longer be reimbursed for infusion solutions in the clinic, because after a new one these are no longer on the list of categorised medicines. MZ SR has summed up their price to achieve:

MZ SR granted the application of the marketing authorisation holder and removed the remaining medicinal products from the categorisation list so that the same medicinal products are not included in the price measure (in accordance with § 95 (1) (a). (d) Law No 363/2011 Z. z.). MZ SR assessed that due to the binding decision on legal deadlines it is not possible to issue a withdrawal decision before the expiry of the deadline. There is therefore no other legal procedure allowing for a timely decision to remove a medicinal product from the list of categorised medicinal products with enforceability on date 01.02.2026 so that the medicinal product has a valid only one price determined by the price measure.

Maintaining the quality and availability of medicines in Slovakia is crucial for the Slovak Republic. The public interest in the availability of infusion solutions in Slovakia is based on public dialogue and general consensus of healthcare professionals.
